3 MLB Player Props for Wednesday, October 2: Will Lugo Dominate?

We’ve officially made it to the MLB Playoffs! Yesterday was a fantastic slate of games, from upsets by the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and New York Mets, to a less-than-surprising win from the San Diego Padres.

With all of that in mind, today’s four games carry a lot of weight. Which teams will crack under the pressure, and which teams will thrive, potentially carrying themselves into the divisional round?

We can’t wait to find out, which is why we’ve happily put together our favorite player props from the action on Underdog. Let’s get into our top picks!

Hunter Brown OVER 4 Hits Allowed

This seems like a good matchup, at least on paper, for Hunter Brown and the Houston Astros. Brown has been a great starter for the Astros this season, although, he doesn’t always come up big in the win column, losing three of his past four starts.

Brown does tend to strike out a lot of batters, his biggest strength by a long shot. He tends to give up quite a few hits when he’s not locating, and the Detroit Tigers will certainly take advantage of any miscues.

Look for Brown to get knocked around by this hard-hitting Tigers team this afternoon, giving up at least four hits to hit the over on this line.

Seth Lugo OVER 4.5 Strikeouts

Hunter Brown might be a big strikeout guy, but Seth Lugo isn’t, necessarily. His pitch mix usually leads to a lot of groundouts and relatively outs for his fielders, but he doesn’t have the knockout pitch that a player like Tarik Skubal has, for instance.

However, Lugo has plenty of experience, which should give him plenty of room to have a massive game against the Baltimore Orioles today. The Kansas City Royals are building a ton of momentum, and after their win yesterday, we believe everyone is going to have extra motivation to succeed.

Lugo shouldn’t have a problem striking out 5+ batters, especially since we believe he’ll make it until the end of the fifth inning, at the very least.

Brice Turang OVER .5 Total Bases

The Milwaukee Brewers got stunned at home in the first game of the Wild Card series. Many believed they’d win with ease, but it was the New York Mets who actually had the last laugh.

Brice Turang was one of the lone bright spots in the loss yesterday and considering that he should be their leadoff hitter again today, we believe he’ll have another fantastic game.

The Brewers need a spark plug, and who better to do that than a young player like Turang? Take the over on his total bases with confidence!
