Trevon Diggs Signs One-Year Deal With Seahawks After Packers Release, Per Adam Schefter

Trevon Diggs is heading to the Pacific Northwest. The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback is signing a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a day after Diggs worked out for the defending Super Bowl champions. The deal reportedly carries no guaranteed money beyond the 2026 season, a sign of how far Diggs’ stock has fallen since his peak with the Dallas Cowboys.

Diggs spent five seasons in Dallas after the Cowboys drafted him in the second round in 2020, racking up 20 career interceptions and back-to-back Pro Bowl nods in 2021 and 2022. But his tenure unraveled amid a torn ACL, inconsistent play, and an eventual trade to Green Bay. The Packers waived him on January 20, and he sat unsigned for exactly seven months before landing in Seattle.

Why the Seahawks Are Betting on a Reclamation Project

Seattle’s cornerback room looks very different than the one that helped deliver the franchise’s Super Bowl title. Riq Woolen departed in free agency on a one-year, $12 million deal with the Eagles, leaving a hole opposite Devon Witherspoon. The Seahawks had been finalizing a deal with former Lions and Falcons corner Terrion Arnold before that agreement was put on hold, and Diggs’ signing — the second notable cornerback move of the week for Seattle — fills the gap while the front office sorts out its plans at the position.

Diggs’ 2025 stint with Green Bay was rough by any measure: 27 tackles and zero interceptions across nine games, with Pro Football Focus grading him outside the top 90 qualifying cornerbacks in the league. That’s a steep drop from the ballhawk who once led the NFL in picks. Still, Seattle is banking on scheme fit, a full offseason to reset physically, and the chance to play alongside a talented young secondary that includes Witherspoon, Josh Jobe, and rookie safety-hybrid Nick Emmanwori. Seattle’s depth chart behind the projected starters currently lists Nehemiah Pritchett, Shemar Jean-Charles, and Noah Igbinoghene, so Diggs will have every opportunity to climb into a rotational role — or beyond — if training camp goes well.

What It Means for Seattle’s Betting Market

The Seahawks enter the move as one of the league’s most heavily backed teams on the futures board. Seattle sits around +1100 to win the Super Bowl and +600 for the NFC crown at major books, squarely in the second tier behind the Rams, and is priced as a heavy favorite to make the playoffs again at -225. None of those markets are likely to swing on a low-risk, one-year depth signing, but roster churn at a position group that lost significant experience this offseason is exactly the kind of subplot bettors tracking Seattle’s defensive prop markets and division-race lines will want to monitor as camp battles play out.

The more relevant betting implication may show up later in the season, tied to individual game lines and pass-defense efficiency metrics rather than the marquee futures board. If Diggs earns real defensive snaps, Seattle’s secondary depth improves in a division that features Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ aerial attack, which could matter for game totals and passing-yardage markets in NFC West matchups down the stretch. For now, this is a low-cost, high-variance flier for a team with championship aspirations and very little to lose by giving a former Pro Bowler one more shot to prove he can still play.
