Top DFS Value Picks for NFL Week 3
This week brings another round of exciting NFL games and with those another set of DFS value picks. Each week we aim to find players who offer a strong combination of upside and affordability.
With Week 3 matchups just around the corner, finding the right balance in your DFS lineup is so important.
Here’s a breakdown of four players who can bring plenty of fantasy points for a modest price.
Geno Smith —Seattle — QB
- Value: 3.20
- Fantasy Points: 17.9
- Salary: $5.6k
Geno Smith is coming off a stellar week where he completed 33 of 44 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown. To take that a step further, he also threw 0 interceptions.
Seattle relied heavily on the passing game, and Smith rose to the challenge with a decent 103.1 QB rating. This was a shift from their Week 1 run-heavy game plan, which looks great for his DFS prospects if they continue to lean into this strategy.
However, Week 3 is a bit of a tricky situation. The Seahawks face a strong Dolphins pass defense that has allowed only 151 passing yards per game over the first two weeks. That means last week’s strategy might not be a fit for this week.
With Miami potentially starting backup quarterback Skylar Thompson due to Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, Seattle may not need to pass as much.
Smith’s ceiling could be capped if the Seahawks play conservatively, especially if they get an early lead.
That said, Smith’s low salary offers tons of value, even if his upside isn’t as high as last week, though we think there’s a chance he still comes out on top.
DeVonta Smith — Philadelphia — WR
- Value: 2.52
- Fantasy Points: 17.4
- Salary: $6.9k
With A.J. Brown sidelined due to a hamstring injury, DaVonta Smith is stepping into the role of Philadelphia’s top receiver.
He made the most of this opportunity in Week 2. He recorded seven catches for 76 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets in the Eagles’ narrow loss to the Falcons. Not a bad week altogether racking up a total of 17.1 fantasy points.
As the leading option, he’s primed for another big performance in Week 3.
Philadelphia faces the Saints this week. Fortunately for Smith, They have a defense that has been inconsistent against wide receivers.
While New Orleans has a solid secondary, Smith’s target share makes him a high-floor option. If the Saints manage to keep the game close, expect Jalen Hurts to rely heavily on Smith to move the chains as he consistently averages 10+ yards per reception.
At $6.9k, Smith is a nice balance of consistency and ceiling, especially if Hurts continues to target him as the primary option.
Jordan Mason — San Francisco — RB
- Value: 3.68
- Fantasy Points: 22.8
- Salary: $6.2k
Jordan Mason took full advantage of his role as San Francisco’s feature back with Christian McCaffrey on injured reserve.
This last week he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries netting him 16.9 fantasy points. He also snagged his lone target for five receiving yards, rounding out a complete performance.
The 49ers’ offense remains one of the most efficient in the league, and Mason is set to handle the bulk of the backfield touches again this week.
In Week 3, Mason has a nice matchup against the Rams’ porous run defense. The best part of this is that they have already allowed 394 rushing yards this season (third-most in the NFL).
Given San Francisco’s commitment to the run attack and Mason’s workhorse role, he’s in a solid position to rack up yards and find the end zone again which is going to result in a ton of FP.
His $6.2k salary is a bargain for the type of workload he’s expected to receive, making him a must-add in DFS lineups this week.
Trey McBride — Arizona — TE
- Value: 2.29
- Fantasy Points: 14.2
- Salary: $6.2k
Trey McBride continued to carve out a solid role in Arizona’s offense. He caught all six of his targets for 67 yards in Week 2.
Even with Marvin Harrison playing well, McBride remains a reliable option in the passing game, especially in short-yardage situations where they need him most.
Arizona’s game script leaned toward the run as they got out to an early lead, but McBride’s 6 targets on 21 passing attempts demonstrate his importance to the offense. With that type of consistency, they might just lean on him for more passes.
Week 3’s matchup against the Lions isn’t ideal, as Detroit has been stingy against tight ends. They’ve allowed just four receptions for 47 yards to the position through two games.
However, McBride’s volume makes him a solid bet to outplay his $6.2k salary, though we must admit that’s a pretty high demand for a TE.
If Arizona finds themselves needing to pass more, expect McBride to be involved, especially as a security blanket for Kyler Murray.
