Tight End Best Ball Sleepers for 2024 NFL Fantasy Football: Is There Value on Taysom Hill?

Week 2 of NFLx is here, which means that the regular season is close. Get ready for your fantasy football draft by reading our feature on Tight End sleepers. Is it September yet?

Jake Ferguson (DAL): TE9

Ferguson has a chance to finish this season in the top ten similar to how Brandin Cooks has a chance to finish this year as a top 25 wideout due to pure opportunity.

With CeeDee Lamb not taking the field this offseason and the Cowboys truly not gaining ground on their NFC competition this offseason, Ferguson will have to have a top-tier year to get his squad back into the playoffs in a now competitive conference.

Fergy broke out in his sophomore campaign for 5 TDs and 71 catches and with Kelce, Andrews, and Kittle getting older and older, Ferguson is a durable player to target at this position and ADP in best ball.

T.J. Hockenson (MIN): TE16

Although injured and not due to return until at least the quarter point of the Vikings season, something has to be said about the sticky situation in the QB room posing as a blessing in disguise for the tight-end room.

Whether McCarthy or Darnold, the Tight End will be heavily targeted in most games the Vikings play in as they will only be favored in a handful of games and playing from behind in plenty.

Hockenson has been targeted 80 or more times each of the last four years while scoring 21 touchdowns during that span – he’s a 1B tier tight end that could win you a best ball playoff spot if you’re confident in the rest of your TE behind or beside Hock.

Chig Okonkwo (TEN): TE26

Time to get Chiggy with it? We tried this last year but now with a solidified plan at Quarterback and no competition beside him, Chig Okonkwo is bound to have the best season of his young career here in 2024.

The uber-athletic tight end slowly climbed up the PPR and best ball rankings last season finishing at the TE21 in PPR formats with 528 yards but just one touchdown to show for.

With Tennessee working with a revamped offense without Derrick for the first time since 2015, short-yardage plays that turn into bigger gains are going to be key and Okonkwo is going to be the leading force.

Taysom Hill (NO): TE32

According to two ESPN insiders, Taysom Hill could play up to five positions frequently this season – TE, RB, WR, QB, & FB. That is best ball heaven at the TE32 spot.

While other owners will most likely select Taysom earlier than the TE32 range, Hill as your TE2 or 3 is the right play as a player that will score 20+ points in at least two games during the season, especially with a lackluster New Orleans offense.

In PPR formats, Hill has scored 15 or more points in 10 games over the last three seasons essentially lining him up with that Tier 3 of fantasy football tight ends.
