Pirates at Phillies: Our MLB Best Bet for Friday, April 12
Ready to kick off your weekend with some action on the diamond? Check out our MLB best bet for Friday, April 12 below. Good luck, fellow sports investors!
Play of the Day: Pirates (+148 at BetRivers)
Pittsburgh has won 3 of their last 4 and is 9-3 overall on the season. They have been a surprise to most but have been able to continue their winning ways into April. As a team, they are batting .270 which is 5th in the league and their pitchers have a combined 1.12 WHIP, good enough for 3rd in the league.
Hitting .324 while collecting 6 extra-base hits and 9 RBIs, Connor Joe has been impressive for the Buccos early in the season. Bailey Falter will have his 5.40 ERA on the hill for the Pirates. This is after going 6 innings and shutting out Baltimore in his last outing.
Philly has had a true up-and-down season to this point and the 6-6 record proves exactly that. Winners of 4 of their last 6, the Phillies will look to Christian Sanchez to start this one. He is 0-1 on the season and holds a 4.82 ERA. He allowed 3 earned in 4.1 innings against the Nationals in his last outing.
Brandon Marsh is hitting .333 and has 3 home runs with 7 RBIs. As an overall pitching staff, the Phillies are holding opponents to just .233 at the plate which is 11th best in the majors. The Pirates are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now and while Falter got knocked around in his season debut, we like the way he bounced back against the Orioles.
The Phillies are just not trustworthy right now which makes them nearly impossible to back. Sanchez being roughed up by the lowly Nats makes us take the leap and ride the Pirates here.
- Pittsburgh is 3-1 SU in their last 4 games.
- Pittsburgh is 6-1 SU on the road this season.
- Philly is starting Sanchez, who lost his last 3 decisions.
- Philly is 2-4 SU at home this season.
