NFL Best Bets for Sunday, October 15

NFL Best Bets for Sunday, October 15

Aside from the disappointing 0-3 result in Week 2, our NFL best bets have won each week and been a scorching 6-1-1 to bring our overall mark to 6-4-1 on the season. After a quick trip across the pond, where there was a seemingly endless amount of Bills fans in town to watch their matchup with the Jags, we’re back and ready to resume our winning ways in Week 6.

We recently updated our season-long Super Bowl odds article highlighting the 49ers and Chiefs standing at the front of the contenders in line for this season’s top prize. Following a 42-10 beatdown of the Cowboys, San Francisco now stands alone.

Shanahan’s team is the class of the league at 5-0 and is favored to win it all with odds of +350. The Eagles are the only other undefeated team through five weeks but have longer odds than the Chiefs, who’ve won four straight following their season-opening loss to the Lions.

The Niners are touchdown faves in Cleveland this Sunday against a tough Browns team, allowing fewer than 200 yards of offense per week to opponents through four games. Kansas City, Miami, and Buffalo are favored by at least 10 points in Week 6, with the Chiefs playing on TNF against the Broncos, which we covered here.

The Packers and Steelers are the only two teams on byes this week, while the Jaguars will play on US soil for the first time since September 24. It’s worth noting they’ll also be playing New Orleans on TNF after their date with the Colts this Sunday.

Our best bets for Week 6 have been researched and written up; read ahead for this week’s NFL plays.

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Jets: UNDER 41

The situation is an integral part of this handicap. It’s a proper lookahead spot for the Eagles, who play the Dolphins at home next week on Sunday Night Football in a possible Super Bowl preview.

Meanwhile, the Jets have a bye coming up after this game and just lost Alijah Vera-Tucker, their best offensive lineman, for the season due to an Achilles tear against Denver. Despite a win in Week 5, they seem like a team desperate to rest for a week after an injury-riddled start to their season.

The main concern is that Philadelphia, who averages 28.2 points per game, pounces on the Jets early and forces us to hang on with only a touchdown or two of wiggle room for 2+ quarters. If that doesn’t happen, we’ll have a good chance to cash this play.

New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans +1.5

After one of the more dominating performances in the NFL this season in Week 5, we’ll be fading the Saints this Sunday in Houston. We expect the public to hammer New Orleans following their 34-0 shutout of New England in Foxborough. We’ll gladly take it if that allows us to snag a free point or two in favor of the home team.

The Saints are 24th in total offense and managed just 4.3 yards per play in their blowout win against the Pats. They forced three turnovers and held the ball for nearly 40 minutes but also committed 12 penalties and were 5-for-15 on third downs.

Houston’s fourth-ranked passing offense will test the Saints’ secondary, and we expect them to have some success. The Texans are one of two teams, along with the 49ers, to not throw a pick this year, and if CJ Stroud can keep it that way we like Houston to win outright at home.
