MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props for April 30, 2026: Valdez, Soroka, and Ober Lead the Way
Thursday’s MLB slate is one of the better pitching cards of the week, with 10 games spread across the afternoon and evening. If you’re new to betting on baseball, pitcher strikeout props are one of the best places to start — they’re straightforward, they’re driven by real data, and today’s card has several spots where the books appear to have set the line just a touch too low.
Today we’re focusing on three starters who have the matchups, recent form, and stuff to exceed their strikeout totals. Whether you’re looking to add a little action to the afternoon games or want a pick for tonight’s Twins-Blue Jays clash, these plays are backed by solid numbers.
Framber Valdez Has Found His Groove and the Braves Won’t Slow Him Down
Framber Valdez is listed at OVER 4.5 strikeouts for his Thursday start against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park, with the over priced around -122 to -140 depending on your book. The line is beatable. Valdez is a ground-ball machine who generates whiffs with his devastating curveball, and while his strikeout average sits at 4.0 per game across six 2026 starts, that number is being dragged down by two rough outings — a 1-strikeout disaster against Kansas City on April 14 and a 2-K game at Minnesota on April 8.
Strip those two outliers away and Valdez looks like a very different pitcher. He punched out 7 Astros on April 19 and followed with 4 strikeouts across 4.1 innings on April 24. His sinker-curveball combination has historically been effective against right-handed lineups, and Atlanta, despite their 22-9 record, carries enough swing-and-miss hitters that a five-plus strikeout outing is well within reach. The Dimers model gives this play a 64.7% probability and a 9.8% edge — the highest edge on today’s entire board. At BetRivers, the over sits around -122, which is very fair for a mid-64 percent proposition.
Valdez’s Detroit Tigers rotation has benefited from his ability to eat innings and generate ground balls, but on a day when strikeouts are the goal, this matchup in Atlanta sets up well. If you’re new to strikeout props, this is a simple, clean play: you need Framber to fan five batters across five or six innings. He’s done it or come very close in three of his last four starts, and the matchup supports a bounce-back performance in the K column.
Michael Soroka Is on a Roll That Deserves More Attention
Michael Soroka for the Arizona Diamondbacks has been one of the quieter storylines of the first month of the season. He’s 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA and has recorded 34 strikeouts in 27.2 innings this year, which works out to 6.8 strikeouts per appearance across five starts. Today’s line is OVER 5.5 strikeouts at nearly even money — the over is -104 at FanDuel and the under is -128 — which represents real value for a pitcher averaging nearly a full strikeout more per start than that threshold.
Soroka’s recent game log tells the story clearly. He struck out 10 on opening weekend against Detroit, then followed with 3, 10, 5, and 6 in his next four starts. Two of those four starts have cleared 5.5, and his overall rate strongly supports the over at a line this low. He’s facing the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field, and Milwaukee’s offense has the kind of free-swinging approach that plays into the hands of a pitcher with Soroka’s mix of four-seamers, slurves, and cutters. His K/9 of 11.1 in 2026 is far above the line being offered, making this one of the cleanest plays on today’s board.
The Brewers are 15-14 and have struggled for consistency against quality pitching this month. Soroka’s ability to miss bats with his slurve at an above-average rate — per Statcast data showing a 29.6% strikeout rate this season — means the over at this price is the right side of the line.
Bailey Ober Is the Safest Strikeout Play on the Thursday Slate
If you’re looking for the highest-probability strikeout pick of the day, Bailey Ober of the Minnesota Twins is your answer. Ober is listed at OVER 3.5 strikeouts for his evening start against the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field, with the over priced at -147 at some books and as high as -166 at others. The Dimers model puts this play at a 68.4% probability — the top-ranked probability on the entire Thursday prop board — with an 8.9% edge.
Ober has averaged 4.5 strikeouts per game across six 2026 starts, meaning he clears 3.5 more often than not as a baseline. His 2026 ERA of 3.94 and WHIP of around 1.2 show a pitcher working deep enough into games to accumulate the strikeouts needed. The Toronto Blue Jays have a lineup capable of making contact, but Ober’s deceptive delivery and ability to generate weak contact has kept him effective in each of his recent outings.
The key here is the low line. At 3.5 strikeouts, you’re not asking Ober to have a big night — you just need him to work into the fourth or fifth inning and collect Ks at roughly his average pace. He needs to go over his per-game average by just one to cash this prop, which puts this firmly in the “safe anchor leg” category. If you’re building a prop parlay, Ober over 3.5 is exactly the kind of play to pair with a positive-odds pick elsewhere on the board. Today’s Strikeout Edge: Lock These Three In
Thursday’s MLB card gives strikeout bettors a clean set of spots to attack. Valdez has the matchup and the upside. Soroka has the rate and a near-even line. Ober has the probability and a safe floor. Here are the three plays for today.

- Michael Soroka OVER 5.5 strikeouts (around -104 at FanDuel)
