College Football Pick’em Strategy for Saturday’s Bowl Games

The college football season is nearly completed. We have just a few weeks until the College Football Playoff, one of the more anticipated playoffs in recent memory. However, we still have a few bowl games this weekend, which could provide much fan entertainment. When thinking about fan entertainment, we had to cook up a few player props, and our favorites from Underdog are found below. Best of luck this weekend!

Diego Pavia – Over 195.5 Passing Yards

Are you ready for the New Mexico Bowl? This year’s iteration of the bowl features a matchup between New Mexico State and Fresno State, one final opportunity for these teams to showcase their skills. For some players, this will be the last game of their collegiate career, one more shot for them to play competitive football. This is an excellent opportunity for Diego Pavia to show his coaches that he can hold onto the starting gig for the 2024 season.

Pavia has had an up-and-down year, showing flashes of brilliance in some weeks while falling short in others. He has performed well when called upon, throwing for 200+ yards in eight games this season. We expect him to go for it all this weekend, putting up another game with more than 200 yards. This would allow him to hit the over on his player prop, which we’re banking on.

J. Michael Sturdivant – Under 3 Receptions

This year’s LA Bowl is between UCLA and Boise State. Both teams come into this game having put forth solid seasons, but UCLA is still favored by 4.5 points. With an over/under of 48.5, sportsbooks aren’t necessarily expecting this to be a shootout, part of the reason we’re projecting Sturdivant to have less than three receptions.

He has only eclipsed this mark in three games this season, and in a big moment, a bowl game, we’re not expecting him to put forth an extraordinary effort. Look for him to have one, maybe two catches in this game, quickly hitting the under in this spot.

Behren Morton – Under 33.5 Passing Attempts

The final game of the Saturday Slate is between Texas Tech and Cal, who are facing off in the Independence Bowl. Oddsmakers think this might be a higher-scoring game, as the over/under is 56.5. With that in mind, Texas Tech is a run-first team, and if they’re going to score, they’ll likely need to do so on the ground. We’re expecting Behren Morton to have a diminished impact on this game, hopefully hitting the under on his passing yardage prop easily.
