Best NFL DFS Picks for Thursday Night Football: Steelers vs Browns Week 4 DraftKings and FanDuel Lineup Advice

Thursday Night Football brings an AFC North grudge match to Huntington Bank Field as the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) travel to face the Cleveland Browns (2-1) with first place in the division on the line. Both offenses have shown real signs of life over the past two weeks, and with a modest 38.5-point over/under, this single-game slate rewards DFS players who can identify the handful of players locked into a clear, high-volume role rather than chasing boom-or-bust names buried on the depth chart.

Because this is a two-team slate, roster construction is simpler but the margin for error is smaller. You want players tied to a true workhorse role, a favorable matchup, or both. Below are five NFL DFS picks worth building around for tonight’s Thursday Night Football DraftKings and FanDuel lineups, covering a mix of premium plays and salary-relief value.

Jaylen Warren, RB — Pittsburgh Steelers ($6,200 DK / $6,700 FD)

Warren is the headline value play on this slate after Rico Dowdle (toe) was ruled out for a second straight week, leaving Warren as the clear workhorse in Pittsburgh’s backfield. Last week against Cincinnati, Warren turned 20 touches into 176 scrimmage yards — a new career high — with 127 rushing yards on just 17 carries (7.5 yards per attempt) and 49 yards through the air. No other Steelers running back saw more than three snaps in that game, and Warren’s 91.5 percent snap share was the second-highest mark by any running back in the league this season.

The matchup only sweetens the pot. Cleveland has allowed an explosive run on 16.7 percent of opposing carries, the worst rate in football, and every starting running back the Browns have faced this year has racked up at least 88 scrimmage yards against them. With receiving work baked in on top of bellcow carries, Warren offers a rare combination of a true workhorse role and a defense that simply cannot stop the run.

Deshaun Watson, QB — Cleveland Browns ($4,900 DK / $6,800-9,400 FD)

Watson carries the highest DFS model projections on this slate, and the tape backs it up. He’s completed 76.9 percent of his passes for 443 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception through three games, and he’s strung together back-to-back multi-touchdown outings with zero turnovers — two scores against Tampa Bay and two more (144 yards passing) in last week’s win over Carolina. He adds a real rushing floor too, with 60 yards on the ground already and a long run of nine yards, giving him a dual-threat DFS ceiling at a bargain salary relative to his usage.

Pittsburgh’s pass defense was shredded in its last outing against Cincinnati, and Watson gets a short week to attack it again at home. With Harold Fannin Jr. emerging as his clear top target and the Browns comfortable letting Watson extend plays with his legs, this is one of the best points-per-dollar plays anywhere on the board tonight.

Harold Fannin Jr., TE — Cleveland Browns ($5,800 FD / $7,400 DK Showdown)

Fannin has quietly become Watson’s security blanket. Over his last two games, the rookie tight end has turned 15 targets into a 12-catch, 125-yard, two-touchdown stretch, capped by a 7-catch, 51-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Panthers in which he led the Browns in catches, yards and targets. He’s now totaled 25 combined targets over his last two outings, making him the clear focal point of Cleveland’s passing attack regardless of which receiver lines up across from him.

Pittsburgh has actually done a solid job limiting tight end receptions on the season, but volume cures a lot of matchup concerns, and Fannin is seeing more red-zone work than any other Cleveland pass catcher. At his price point relative to the target share he commands, he’s a strong building block for cash games and tournament lineups alike.

DK Metcalf, WR — Pittsburgh Steelers ($5,400 DK / $9,000 FD Showdown)

Metcalf has been quietly building toward a breakout since arriving in Pittsburgh, and last week’s performance against Cincinnati may have been the turning point. He caught his first touchdown of the season on a six-yard grab and set a season-high mark in fantasy output, doing so on a slate where Aaron Rodgers and the passing offense looked far more cohesive than through the first two weeks. Metcalf still leads Pittsburgh with a 22 percent target share and a 100 percent route participation rate, giving him a high floor even on days when the catches don’t fall his way.

He’s been held under 41 receiving yards in every game this season despite 24 targets, which suggests positive regression is coming, and a road divisional game with the Steelers needing to establish rhythm against a Browns defense playing from ahead or behind could be exactly the spot where that happens. At a value salary on DraftKings’ main-slate pricing, Metcalf offers real touchdown upside as a correlated piece with Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers, QB — Pittsburgh Steelers ($5,100 DK / $7,200-9,800 FD)

Rodgers delivered his best game of the season last week, throwing for a season-high 292 yards with three touchdowns on an 8.6 yards-per-attempt clip, connecting with nine different pass catchers and spreading touchdowns across Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek and DK Metcalf. For the season he’s thrown for 700 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, and he now enters Thursday night with a chance to tie Tom Brady for the most Thursday Night Football wins in the Super Bowl era at 14 — one more reason the future Hall of Famer figures to be locked in for what’s being billed as his final TNF appearance.

The matchup isn’t without risk; Cleveland’s defense has been aggressive, and weather could turn breezy late in the game as rain moves in after kickoff. But Rodgers’ rushing floor is close to nonexistent, so his salary is priced purely on a passing attack that just found its rhythm. If forecasts hold and the heavier rain stays out until after the final whistle as expected, Rodgers remains a viable value stack with Metcalf or the field of Steelers pass catchers.

Building Your Lineup

On a two-team slate like this, stacking is the way to maximize correlation. Pairing Deshaun Watson with Harold Fannin Jr. captures nearly all of Cleveland’s expected passing production in one combo, while a Rodgers-Metcalf pairing does the same on the Pittsburgh side. Jaylen Warren stands alone as a value anchor that doesn’t need to be stacked with anything — his workload is secure regardless of game script, whether Pittsburgh is running clock with a lead or feeding him check-downs in a shootout.

Salary-cap-wise, expect popular DraftKings and FanDuel lineups tonight to overweight Watson and Fannin given the model buzz around both, so there’s an argument for differentiating in tournaments by pairing Warren with Rodgers instead of the chalkier Browns stack. Whichever direction you lean, keep an eye on the weather forecast calling for rain late in the evening — if that moves up earlier than expected, lean further into the run game and away from one-score touchdown dependency from either quarterback.
