The Boston Bruins roll into Dallas on Tuesday night as one of the league’s hottest teams. At 7-2-0 they have won five straight, while the Stars sit at 4-3-1 and are looking for a little more offense. Puck drop at American Airlines Center is 8:00 PM ET on ESPN, and with two excellent goalies expected in the crease, this is a great game to learn how a same-game parlay works.

A same-game parlay (SGP) combines several bets from one game into a single ticket, and every leg has to hit for the ticket to cash. Our beginner-friendly build has four legs: Under 5.5 total goals, Bruins +1.5 on the puck line, David Pastrnak over 3.5 shots on goal, and Pastrnak to score anytime. Prices below come from FanDuel Sportsbook listings on Tuesday and will move, so check your own book before placing anything.

Leg 1: Under 5.5 Total Goals (+100)

The total is the easiest bet to understand: will the two teams combine for fewer than six goals? FanDuel has the Under at +100 and the Over at -122. We like the Under because of who is in net. Jake Oettinger is 3-2-1 with three shutouts already and a .952 save percentage, and Jeremy Swayman is 6-1-0 with a .934 save percentage.

The trend backs it up. The Under has cashed in all eight Stars games this season, and Dallas leads the NHL by allowing just 1.50 goals per game. Boston’s 4-1 win over Los Angeles on Saturday also stayed Under 5.5. One caution: past Bruins-Stars meetings have been higher scoring, so this is the leg most likely to cause trouble. Leg 2: Bruins +1.5 on the Puck Line (-180)

The puck line is hockey’s version of a point spread. Taking Boston +1.5 means the Bruins can lose by one goal and the bet still wins. Dallas is a home favorite at about -166 on the moneyline, but a one-goal game is common in the NHL, and a low-scoring game like our first leg expects often ends that way.

The -180 price is heavy, which is the cost of that cushion. Boston is 4-1-0 on the road this season, has won five in a row, and Pastrnak leads the way with 12 points. Pairing a cushioned side with an Under makes the two legs work together instead of against each other.

Leg 3: David Pastrnak Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-108)

Shots on goal are one of the friendliest props for beginners because you can follow them live and they do not depend on one lucky bounce. Pastrnak wears number 88 and has 34 shots on goal through nine games, just under four a night. FanDuel lists his line at 3.5, with the Over at -108.

He put three shots on net Saturday against the Kings and skates on Boston’s top line next to Morgan Geekie. Pastrnak also leads the Bruins with four goals and eight assists, so the puck is on his stick all night.

Leg 4: David Pastrnak Anytime Goal Scorer (+190)

An anytime goal scorer bet means the player has to score at least one goal at any point in the game. Pastrnak is +190 at FanDuel, which implies he scores a little more than one game in three. He has four goals through nine games, three of them on the power play.

This is the longest-shot leg and where the payout gets exciting. It also ties to Leg 3, since a player firing four shots is more likely to find the net. More legs means a bigger payout but a lower chance every leg hits, so if you prefer a safer ticket, drop this one. Our betting calculator shows how each leg changes your payout.

The Full Parlay

The ticket: Under 5.5 total goals, Bruins +1.5, Pastrnak over 3.5 shots on goal, and Pastrnak anytime goal scorer. Books adjust SGP prices for how the legs relate, so use the combined number your app shows rather than multiplying the odds yourself. Expect it to land well into plus-money territory because of the goal leg.

The case is simple: a goalie-driven, low-scoring game keeps Boston within a goal, and a close game still leaves room for its best player to shoot a lot and find the net. The weak spot is that a Pastrnak goal pushes the game toward the total. Only bet what you can afford to lose, and see our responsible gambling resources if you are just getting started.
