NBA Tuesday Betting Preview: 3 Best Bets for April 1st Action
Heading towards the end of the NBA season, we are taking two players who will receive a huge amount of volume tonight – Gary Trent Jr. and Josh Giddey – to lead their teams to home wins in the Midwest.
In Memphis, the Grizzlies are nursing a three-game losing streak, and it won’t help that the red-hot Warriors are coming into town. After the Taylor Jenkins fiasco, take Golden State and Curry to roll through Memphis.
Gary Trent Jr. (MIL) OVER 13.5 Points
With the absence of Damian Lillard, Gary Trent Jr. has stepped up as a knockdown shooter over the last month or so. GTJ has been hot post All-Star break as well, averaging nearly 13 PPG on 39.4% shooting from beyond the arc.
Insert a Phoenix defense that Trent has gone ballistic over in their last two matchups (30 points and 19 points), and this could be a breakout game for the Milwaukee wing. He’s played around 33 MPG over the Bucks’ L5 and shot at least six threes in each outing. The volume is there for one of the better 3PT shooters in the Eastern Conference.
Josh Giddey (CHI) OVER 8.5 Assists
As the season winds down, Chicago should and will put the ball in Josh Giddey’s hands every possession. How about these numbers since the break: 21.3 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 8.9 APG on 47% shooting from behind the arc, and that game-winner last week.
Chicago takes on the Raptors tonight who allow 115 PPG on the year. With Chicago’s shaky defense playing host at United Center tonight, where Giddey has averaged 7.4 APG on the year, take the MIP candidate to have another late-season breakout game in the red and white.
Warriors -5 over Grizzlies
The firing of Taylor Jenkins, a top five coach in basketball, was simply baffling. Jenkins led Memphis to the 5 seed with the best offense in the association. Now, the Grizzlies have lost three in a row and six of their last seven.
Allowing 117 or more points in each of the last three losses, this Warriors team should be able to handle business away from home as Memphis tries to find an end to their woes. Take a Warriors win tonight, and then Memphis to get back into the win column on Thursday against Miami.
The Warriors have won their last two games away from home by 16 and 42 points, with Steph Curry going for 23 and 13 points in those respective outings. Golden State overwhelms Memphis in this one.
