If you didn’t tune into last night’s MLB action, you missed quite a few great games. The Arizona Diamondbacks lost another close game, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4. The Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers keep losing, and the Chicago Cubs just keep on winning. The NL Central race is certainly something to monitor over the next several weeks.
Let’s get your MLB viewing back on track today. With 15 games on the slate, there are not only plenty of great games taking place but a lot of valuable player props as well. You’ll want to break out your ESPN BET promo code for these picks so you can make the most of these bets.
Today, we’re going to continue our red-hot streak, going over our favorite props from the slate. All of these plays can be found on Underdog.
Jordan Montgomery OVER 5 Strikeouts
Jordan Montgomery is a recent transplant to the Texas Rangers. He was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals and has been acquired by the Rangers to make a final playoff push. In his first start with the team, Montgomery racked up six strikeouts, giving up two runs to the Miami Marlins in six innings of work.
Today, he and the Rangers are facing off against the Oakland Athletics, one of the worst teams in baseball. The Athletics have one of the highest strikeout rates across the entire league, over nine times per game.
The Rangers have played extremely well as of late, and they look to stay hot today. We not only like Montgomery’s odds to hit the over, but we’re projecting him to do so by the end of the fourth inning.
Alex Faedo OVER 3 Earned Runs Allowed
The Minnesota Twins laid an egg against the Detroit Tigers yesterday. Do you really expect them to do that twice in a row? Thankfully for the Twins, they’re facing Alex Faedo today.
While he didn’t give up a run in the last game he started, Faedo gave up seven runs to the Toronto Blue Jays, and six runs to the Texas Rangers. We’re expecting the Twins to get back on track today, teeing off against a struggling Faedo.
He might not get many innings under his belt today, largely due to what we expect the Twins to do. Take this over with confidence today.
Michael Lorenzen OVER 4 Strikeouts
This was the only line on today’s slate to confuse me. How is Lorenzen’s strikeout line so low against the Washington Nationals?
Sure, the Nationals have the second-lowest strikeout rate in the league, which might bring Lorenzen’s number down a tad. But four strikeouts? I am projecting him to have at least six K’s today, meaning that he’ll crush the over on four.
Lorenzen has struck out five or more batters in his last two outings, pitching a combined 13 innings between those two contests. The Philadelphia Phillies believe in Lorenzen, especially considering they added him during the trade deadline. Look for him to soar over this four-strikeout total today.
