2026 Fantasy Football DFS Quarterback Preview: Rankings, Value Plays and Breakout Candidates

Quarterback remains the most stable position in fantasy football and DFS lineup construction, and the 2026 season sets up with one of the clearer top tiers the position has had in years. With training camps opening and rosters largely set after the offseason additions, the quarterback landscape is shaping up around a handful of elite, high-floor options at the top and a deep group of streaming candidates further down the board.

The Clear-Cut QB1: Josh Allen

Josh Allen enters the 2026 season as the unanimous top quarterback in fantasy circles, and it is hard to argue otherwise. Allen has finished among the top three quarterbacks in fantasy points per game in each of the last five seasons and hasn’t missed a start in that span, giving him arguably the safest floor at the position. His 21.4 fantasy points per game in 2025 was actually his lowest mark since 2019, yet it was still enough to lead all quarterbacks, which speaks to just how far ahead of the field he has been. With Joe Brady back as playcaller and the Bills adding DJ Moore to a receiving corps that previously lacked a true number one target, Allen’s dual-threat profile as a legitimate top-five rushing threat at the position gives him a ceiling few passers can match. For DFS purposes, Allen’s rushing floor alone makes him a strong cash-game option most weeks, with obvious tournament upside on top.

The Bounce-Back Candidates

Lamar Jackson sits right behind Allen in most rankings, and for good reason. Jackson opened 2025 red-hot, posting 26-plus fantasy points in each of his first three games before a Week 4 injury changed the trajectory of his season. He wasn’t the same upon returning, managing just 13.5 fantasy points per game over his final nine outings. Assuming full health entering 2026, Jackson’s rushing floor and big-play passing upside make him a strong bet for a rebound, and his price in DFS lineups should reflect buy-low value relative to his talent level.

Jayden Daniels presents a similar bounce-back profile after appearing in only seven games last season due to injury. His supporting cast in Washington remains underwhelming, and he’ll be working with a new playcaller in David Blough, but his dual-threat ability still supplies elite upside when he’s on the field. Daniels projects as a strong QB1 in seasonal formats and a high-ceiling tournament piece in DFS whenever his matchup and health line up.

The Breakout Tier

Drake Maye enters his third NFL season and second full year as New England’s starter coming off a genuinely elite 2025 campaign. Maye led the league in completion percentage at 72 percent and yards per attempt at 8.9, trailing only Allen in total fantasy points, fantasy points per game at 20.7, and top-10 fantasy weeks with 10. That level of efficiency combined with a full offseason as the unquestioned starter puts Maye firmly in the QB1 conversation for 2026, and his DFS pricing may not fully catch up to his actual per-game production until deeper into the season.

Jaxson Dart is the name to watch as a genuine breakout candidate. The Giants quarterback delivered eight top-10 fantasy weeks as a rookie, tied for fifth most at the position, despite playing the bulk of his snaps in only 12 games. A full offseason as a starter and a clearer sense of New York’s offensive identity make Dart an appealing value play, particularly in tournament-style DFS contests where his salary is unlikely to match his weekly ceiling.

Where the Value Lives

Beyond the top tier, quarterback remains one of the deepest positions for DFS value plays. Dual-threat passers like Caleb Williams and Jalen Hurts offer rushing floors that translate well to daily fantasy scoring even in tougher matchups, while veteran pocket passers such as Joe Burrow and Dak Prescott provide reliable weekly floors when volume and game script cooperate. Streaming candidates further down the rankings, including Bo Nix and Jared Goff, become especially relevant later in the season when favorable matchups and cheaper salaries create stacking opportunities with their top receiving options.

Building Your DFS Approach at QB

The 2026 quarterback landscape rewards paying up for Allen or Jackson in cash games when the price allows it, while tournament lineups should look toward Maye, Daniels, and Dart as differentiated stacking pieces with real weekly upside. As the season progresses and matchup data becomes clearer, streaming value at the position will separate the sharpest DFS builds from the field, especially once bye weeks and divisional matchups start to shape ownership percentages.
