2024 Fantasy Football Preview: Best Ball Wide Receiver Sleepers

Cooper Kupp (LAR): WR 22

This is Cooper Kupp’s year once again. Although we saw Puka Nacua have an outstanding rookie season where he took the best ball world by storm, Kupp is back to take those red zone opportunities and short-yardage gains away.

Cooper won’t get back to his 2021 form as one of the best WR seasons of all time in any fantasy format, but he will be able to continue his elite play back at 100% health. During the last two years, Kupp has played just 21 games.

During that span, he’s scored 11 TDs and totaled just under 200 targets. These stats while banged up should give best ball owners hope that Coop has one more eye-opening year in him.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA): WR41

JSN had a lackluster rookie season compared to many experts’ outlooks. However, his sophomore season could turn in a different type of outcome with a new offensive scheme.

While I won’t be the person to say he’ll pass Tyler Lockett for the WR2 role, I believe JSN will make strides as a red zone target and 3rd down target for Geno Smith and company. A late season bloomer, Njigba is a perfect low-risk WR3 or WR4 to add to your roster if you are going QB, TE, or RB heavy earlier in the draft.

The young wideout has the route tree, role, and overall patience as a route runner to win 1v1 battles that will make him a great best ball WR during his career.

Brandin Cooks (DAL): WR54

With the CeeDee Lamb new contract conversation in limbo, Brandin Cooks is officially the Cowboys WR1 at the moment. The ‘Boys were 11-0 in the regular season when BC had 20+ receiving yards and 0-5 when he failed to reach that mark.

It’s safe to say the coaching staff and Prescott will look to get him more involved in his 2nd year in Dallas. Brandin still finished the year as the WR38 in PPR mainly due to his 8 touchdown catches.

In an offense without many reliable or notable weapons, Cooks is a fantastic late-draft pickup for best ball owners who want to secure a talented player who will get plenty of red zone volume during the year.

Darnell Mooney (ATL): WR64

Mooney seems to finally be playing in a stable situation with a Quarterback that can throw into tight spaces and a depth chart that needs him to stay consistent.

With Rondale Moore’s injury in camp, Mooney is the WR2 for Atlanta opposite Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts. With all the defensive attention going to those two pass catchers and Bijan Robinson, this should be Mooney’s breakout year.

Darnell is a former 1,000-yard wideout, finishing as the WR23 in PPR for the Bears in 2021 with rookie Justin Fields and veteran Andy Dalton as his QBs.
