2 College Football Best Bets for Saturday, November 9: Alabama Visits LSU in SEC Showdown!
Need action on the two marquee matchups in college football this week? You’ve come to the right place! Check out our 2 best bets for Saturday, November 9 here. Best of luck with all your wagers!
Georgia Bulldogs vs Mississippi Rebels
#3 Georgia heads to Oxford, Mississippi to take on #16 ranked Ole Miss in a battle that could have a big impact on the SEC and CFB Playoff. The Bulldogs are 7-1, with their lone loss being to rival Alabama 6 weeks ago. In that loss, they allowed 547 total yards of offense to the Tide and were held to just 80 rushing yards.
The 4 turnovers they committed were way too many to overcome. Since the loss, Georgia has won 4 straight games, including one over then #1 Texas. In that win, the Bulldogs forced 4 turnovers and held the Longhorns to just 259 total yards. However, in their last game, a 34-20 victory over Florida, things did not come easy. The game was tied with under 8 minutes to play before Georgia was able to score, force a turnover, and score again late to secure the victory.
Ole Miss is 7-2 on the year and after losing 29-26 to #13 LSU, they have been able to pick up back-to-back wins over Oklahoma and then Arkansas on the road. in those wins, Jaxson Dart has been sharp. He threw for over 800 yards and 7 touchdowns while not throwing a single interception.
In the 2 losses this season, Dart was held under 300 yards passing. The only other game where he did not exceed that number was against South Carolina where he finished with 285. If Dart and the offense can be consistent, the ceiling is very high for the Rebels.
Best Bet: Ole Miss +2.5
In Georgia’s loss to Bama, Jalen Milroe of the Tide threw for 374 yards. We believe that Jaxson Dart and company are going to be able to sling the ball around enough to keep the Rebels in this contest.
It also helps that they will be home in Oxford and know that a win here, could help their chances in make the playoff, as they have just Florida and Mississippi State remaining on their schedule.
Key Trends for Georgia at Ole Miss:
- Georgia is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against an opponent in the West Division
- Georgia is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games.
- Ole Miss is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games.
- Ole Miss is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games when playing as the underdog.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs LSU Tigers
The Crimson Tide, the #11 team in the country, head to Tiger Stadium to have a night game against the #15 LSU Tigers on Saturday night. Both teams are playing for their playoff lives, the loser of this game is likely to be eliminated from playoff contention. The Tide have gone 2-2 over their last 4 games with wins over South Carolina and Missouri, along with loses to Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
They had an off week last week which provided them more to time to prepare, but the same is true for LSU. The Tide are holding opponents to just under 19ppg which is good enough for 35th in the country. They will need that defense to be on point here against a high-powered passing attack of LSU.
LSU seemed to have all their issues figured out after their season opening loss to USC. They rattled off 6 straight wins as they headed into College Station to take on the Aggies. In that game, Texas A&M came back from a 17-7 deficit at the half and held on for a 38-23 win over these LSU Tigers.
Garrett Nussmeier threw 3 interceptions in the loss and the run game was held to an astonishing 24 yards. They will need to be more balanced in this big matchup with the Tide if they want to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Best Bet: Alabama -2.5
With both teams having a bye last week, we believe that will favor the Tide in the fact that they were playing better football before the break. LSU now had 2 weeks to sulk over their loss to Texas A&M and have seen that they are no longer on track for the playoff.
This should be a tremendous game no matter who the winner is, but we like the Tide here on the road.
Key Trends for Alabama at LSU:
- Bama is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games when playing as the underdog.
- Bama is 5-1 SU in their last 6 games when playing on the road against LSU.
- LSU is 2-11 SU in their last 13 games against Alabama.
