Wednesday MACtion 2 Best Bets for November 8

College basketball is now back in action, but don’t forget about the midweek MACtion! See what we did there? Check out our 2 best bets for Wednesday, November 8 right here.

Best Bet: Bowling Green -9.5

Bowling Green is fresh off a 24-21 win over Ball State that gave them their 1st 3-game win streak of the season. After playing to a 14-14 tie through 3 quarters, they traded touchdowns with Ball State before hitting what would be the game-winning field goal by Alan Anaya.

Terion Stewart led the Falcons with 92 yards on 15 carries and found paydirt once. Connor Bazelak threw his way to a 144.5 QBR that included 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. They held onto the ball the entire game while they were able to force 2 from Ball State.

On defense, the Falcons held Ball State to just 66 yards through the air. The defense continues to be the bright spot for the Falcons as they allow just an average of 25ppg.

The Golden Flashes lost yet again last week to Akron on the road. They are just 1-8 on the year and seemingly are checking out for the rest of the season. You cannot fault Tommy Ulatowski as he was superb in the loss to Akron.

He finished 15-23 for 229 yards and 3 touchdown passes. He added another score on the ground and another 24 yards. While the defense held Akron to just 95 rushing yards, they could not stop the pass as they threw for almost 300.

This line has ballooned up rather quickly for this matchup. As we head into the final phase of the season, some teams decide to pack it in and that is what Kent St is teetering on. With an offense that is only averaging 14ppg, it is going to be difficult for them to keep up with the solid offense of the Falcons.

Key Trends:

  • BG is 2-1 ATS in their last 3 games.
  • BG is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games when playing on the road against Kent State.
  • Kent St is 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games.
  • Kent St is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games at home.

Best Bet: Eastern Michigan +19

After starting 4-3, the Eagles have lost back-to-back games and now sit at 4-5. Their latest loss came at home against Western Michigan 45-21. Jalen Buckley ran all over them for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Eagles had 3 different quarterbacks take at least 1 snap and combined for 289 passing yards and while Samson Evans did not gain a ton of yardage on the ground, he did score twice.

However, their 4 turnovers were too difficult to overcome and allowed 25 first downs to WMU. They will need to be better on defense here against Toledo.

Toledo is 8-1 and sits a top the Western Division standings of the MAC. This Toledo team lost their season opener and then won the rest of the way.

Last week, they handed Buffalo a 31-13 loss. Despite 4 turnovers, the Rockets churned out 350 yards of total offense while keeping Dequan Finn upright and allowing 0 sacks.

While Toledo keeps winning, they have struggled against the spread. We think that continues here as the 19 points they are giving the Eagles should be too much. The EMU defense should be able to hold on enough for these points to come into play as they are allowing just 22ppg which is 82nd in the country.

Key Trends:

  • EMU is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games.
  • EMU is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games against Toledo.
  • Toledo is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against an opponent in the Mid-American conference.
  • Toledo is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games at home.
