Texas vs. Texas A&M: 3 Player Props and a Best Bet for Saturday, November 30
This college season has been anything but usual with all of the conference realignment delivering bizarre matchups, like Wake Forest against Stanford in an ACC contest. But one good thing that happened to college football was the return of a battle for Texas.
On Saturday night, the No. 3 Texas Longhorns (10-1, 6-1 SEC) travel to College Station to face the No. 20 ranked Texas A&M Aggies (8-3, 5-2 SEC). The winner of this contest has the chance to face off against the Georgia Bulldogs for the SEC Championship next weekend.
With the renewal of this rivalry, will the Longhorns prove their dominance over the state of Texas, or do the Aggies spoil those dreams of a postseason playoff berth? We’ll cover that and our top three player prop bets below.
Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers UNDER 236.5 Passing Yards
Earlier this year, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was mentioned in the Heisman race as he showed last season his capabilities at the quarterback position. Although the Longhorn signal-caller has missed a few games, he’s still thrown for 2,089 yards and 23 touchdowns against only six interceptions.
Against the Aggies, the Longhorns may not need his arm. Texas A&M has surrendered 576 rushing yards over the past three outings, and the Longhorns like to run the football. Expect Ewers to throw only as needed in his team’s contest Saturday, finishing under 236 passing yards.
Texas A&M Aggies WR Jahdae Walker OVER 30.5 Receiving Yards
Since freshman quarterback Marcel Reed took over the quarterback slot from Conner Weigman again this season, the Aggies have been a much stronger passing team. That’s benefitted their trio of wide receivers who have accumulated over 1,100 yards this season.
The biggest beneficiary has been senior wide receiver Jahdae Walker as he’s caught 10 passes in the past two outings for 117 yards and a touchdown. Expect the 6-foot-4 receiver to benefit again on Saturday night and cover this minimal player prop bet.
Texas Longhorns RB Jaydon Blue OVER 52.5 Rushing Yards
The Longhorns have one of the best running back combos in the country in junior Jaydon Blue and sophomore Quintrevion Wisner. The duo have rushed for 1,181 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024.
Taking the over on this bet relates to why Ewers should not exceed the 236-yard mark on Saturday. South Carolina bullied the Aggies as the Gamecocks rushed for 286 yards on 43 carries against them.
Both Blue and Wisner should have excellent games, and Blue should continue his streak of games with 60 or more rushing yards to four straight contests.
Best Bet: OVER 48.5 Points
Picking a winner in this game is a tough call. It’s a rivalry game, and the Aggies would love nothing more than to earn an SEC Championship game berth while crushing their rivals’ aspirations in the process.
These two teams can score points in bunches. It’s hard to see this game not exceeding 49 points (three touchdowns) with as much riding on this contest for both squads. Expect a final score to approach 60-65 points in Saturday’s primetime outing with Texas winning the game.
