Texans vs. Jets: 4 Player Props and Predictions for Thursday Night Football

Texans vs. Jets 4 Player Props and Predictions for Thursday

The banged-up Texans travel to Metlife to take on the 2-6 New York Jets who are in desperate need of a victory. The two running backs – Breece Hall and Joe Mixon should control the pace of this game while Davante Adams is due to have his best game in a Jets uniform Thursday night.

RB Breece Hall (NYJ) OVER 15.5 Rush Attempts

Breece Hall comes into this Week 9 matchup rushing for 428 yards on 111 carries on the year. While not the most efficient running back, Hall has commanded 16+ carries in four of eight matchups this season, and with the Jets truly wanting to keep the ball away from CJ Stroud in this game, it could turn into a Breece Hall night for New York.

Davante Adams (NYJ) OVER 4.5 Receptions

Davante Adams has seen 15 targets in his two games as a Jet but has not reached the five-catch mark. In this game against a Texans secondary that allows nearly the most TDs to opposing wideouts, I’m trusting in Adams to deliver his first five-catch game in the green and white. DA hasn’t had four straight games with less than five catches since 2016 – his second season in the league.

Joe Mixon (HOU) OVER 20.5 Rush Attempts

Back to the ground, Joe Mixon should get plenty of touches on Thursday night as the banged-up Texans try to keep the ball away from Rodgers and the offense. When fully healthy and active this season, Mixon has gone for 30/25/25 carries for 100+ yards on the ground in each outing. DeMeco Ryans and company trust in Mixon to push this offense downfield with ease and against a New York Jets team that already allows 24 carries for 100+ yards on the ground to opposing running backs, we could be in for a huge Joe Mixon day.

CJ Stroud (HOU) UNDER 31.0 Pass Attempts

Again, with Mixon going for 25 carries when healthy, the Texans might want to keep the ball out of CJ Stroud’s hands for the most part – especially with the banged-up wideout core. With Diggs and Nico Collins out, Tank Dell, Robert Woods, and John Metchie don’t match up well against the above-average Jets secondary. Taking the ball out of Stroud’s hands will be key in order for his play-action throws to work down the stretch in this game.
