Steelers at Browns: 4 Player Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football

Steelers at Browns 4 Player Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football

After two matchups featuring teams that finished last season in the top eight of NFL scoring offenses, this Thursday Night Football features two AFC North rivals where the projected point total is under 40.

The Cleveland Browns host the Pittsburgh Steelers just four days after their historic collapse in a home loss to the New York Jets. Cleveland led New York 30-17 with 1:55 left in the 4th quarter before losing in regulation after the Jets scored two touchdowns and recovered an onside kick.

Pittsburgh lost by a field goal at home to New England while managing just 243 yards of offense and turning the ball over twice.

Both teams will have a chance to bounce back on a short week, and we’ve got 4 player prop best bets lined up to add some excitement to Steelers at Browns. Best of luck with your Thursday Night Football props!

Jacoby Brissett Under 189.5 Passing Yards -115 (BetMGM)

The Browns offense is 24th in attempted passes and 26th in passing yards through Week 2 of this season with Brissett as the starting quarterback. The Steelers defense hasn’t started this season strong, allowing more than 250 yards rushing combined to the Bengals and Patriots in low-scoring, rush-heavy games.

The ground attack is the strength of this Cleveland offense that will continue to rely on Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to bludgeon Pittsburgh’s front seven. Brissett will not be relied on the carry the offensive workload and won’t eclipse this passing total as a result.

Chase Claypool Over 36.5 Rec. Yards -114 (FanDuel)

Based on Claypool’s performances in the first two games this season, there’s no reason his receiving yard total should be this high for TNF. He’s been targeted 12 times total, and managed just 44 yards on eight catches while playing 92% of the team’s offensive snaps. His quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, has thrown for 362 yards in two games where Claypool has gotten about 17% of the team’s targets.

This feels like a number that sportsbooks are putting out there knowing that public bettors would do the math on and take the under. We’ll go the other direction and play on Claypool to haul in 37 or more yards.

Pat Freiermuth Anytime TD +330 (FanDuel)

Freiermuth averaged 6.5 targets and 4.5 catches in the Steelers’ two games against the Browns last season, including scoring a touchdown in their first meeting in Cleveland. In 2022, the athletic tight end from Penn State has attracted 17 targets through two games and caught his first touchdown of the season last week against New England.

Freiermuth snagged 30% of the Steelers passing touchdowns in 2021, and will continue to be the go-to red zone target for whoever is throwing the football for Pittsburgh.

H2H Touchdowns Scored: Freiermuth Over Chubb +310 (DraftKings)

We’re leaning into the Freiermuth pick above and taking a small flyer on this play that actually has some weight behind it. In seven career games against Pittsburgh, Chubb has 110 touches and 1 touchdown scored.

Chubb ran all over the Panthers and Jets so far this season, but the Steelers have only allowed one rushing TD despite the yardage that’s been racked up on them thru two games. This could be a fun addition to your plays for TNF with a nice plus-odds payday if it comes through.
