Minnesota vs. Virginia Tech Betting Preview: 3 Player Props for Mayo Bowl

Minnesota vs. Virginia Tech 3 Player Props for Mayo Bowl

Hello, college football fans! Bowl season isn’t over yet, thankfully, as we still have a few more bowl games to tune into besides the College Football Playoff matchups. One of the remaining games is between the University of Minnesota and Virginia Tech in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, a game that many fans are excited about.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl has become something of a meme, especially after Will Levis’ obsession with mayonnaise took over the internet over the past several months. The over/under is only at 42.5, so this could be a relatively low-scoring game. How will things play out? We’ll soon find out, but until then, let’s take a peek at our favorite player props from this matchup, hoping to sweep the board!

Max Brosmer OVER 206.5 Passing Yards

There’s a lot to like about Max Brosmer against Virginia Tech tonight. He was a well-liked addition during his senior year in Minnesota, a player who won over a lot of fans throughout his short tenure.

The Gophers might not be competing for the National Championship by any means, but they’d like to finish the year on a strong note. Look for Brosmer to throw the ball all over the field tonight, achieving at least 207 passing yards in the process. Seeing how this is his last game with the Gophers, Brosmer should be ready to give it all he’s got, riding into the sunset on the heels of a fantastic passing performance.

Darius Taylor UNDER 141.5 Rushing & Receiving Yards

Darius Taylor is a great player, don’t get us wrong, but this total for rushing and receiving is too darn high. Not only do we expect Brosmer to throw the ball a lot tonight, we don’t anticipate that Taylor will get a lot of work on the ground and through the air.

He’s only hit the over on this line twice in his past six games, giving us little faith that he can do it again tonight. Look for Taylor to have a relatively pedestrian night, going under his rushing and receiving total.

John Love OVER 4.5 Kicking Points

We’re not too confident in Virginia Tech’s skill position players, but we’re excited to take the over on John Love’s kicking points total! Love has been the picture of consistency for the Hokies all season, making every extra point he’s attempted and has hit nearly 90% of his field goal attempts.

The Hokies might not score a ton of touchdowns against the Gophers, but we project them to have a few opportunities at field goals, which is where Love should come in and cash the over on this prop!
