Georgia vs. Texas Betting Guide: 3 Player Props and Best Bet for SEC Title

Georgia vs. Texas 3 Player Props and Best Bet for SEC Title

The SEC title for the 2024 season will come down to a rematch between the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2 SEC) and the No. 2 ranked Texas Longhorns (11-1, 7-1 SEC).

Georgia has two advantages heading into this contest. The first was evident in their previous matchup as the Bulldogs beat the Longhorns 30-15 in October. Second, this game is being played in Atlanta, and the Bulldogs are expected to have a large presence in the contest.

Texas is looking to win the SEC championship in their first season in the league. The Longhorns have been dominant in all but two games this season: their loss to Georgia and the following week against Vanderbilt. Otherwise, Texas has a double-digit winning margin in every other outing.

Will the Longhorns deliver a Texas-sized retribution against Georgia, or can the Bulldogs replicate their early-season win? We’ll cover that and our three best player prop bets for Saturday’s SEC Championship game.

Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers UNDER 233.5 Passing Yards

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers started the season with Heisman hype after his sophomore season. Injuries and a strong rushing game have thwarted that push; still, he’s completed 67.3 percent of his passes this season for 2,307 yards and 24 touchdowns against only two interceptions.

Still, in his team’s first matchup against Georgia, Ewers was sacked five times while he completed 25 of his 43 passes for 211 yards. Bettors should expect a similar effort this week as the Longhorns will look to establish the run and keep Ewers from facing such stiff pressure, leaving him short of covering this player prop bet.

Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck OVER 5.5 Rushing Yards

Oddsmakers aren’t giving many options for this category, but Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is a great choice for bettors. The Bulldogs’ 6-foot-4 signal-caller hasn’t been involved in a lot of rushing plays this season as he’s used his arm to move the chains.

Still, he’s surpassed this 5.5-mark in eight of his 12 games, notching three straight outings with at least 18 rushing yards. Bet this player prop bet with confidence as Beck should scramble at least three times to cover this player prop bet.

Texas Longhorns TE Gunnar Helm OVER 45.5 Receiving Yards

Ewers’ most reliable target this season has been tight end Gunnar Helm. The 6-foot-5 senior has caught a team-best 48 receptions for 600 yards and five touchdowns this season for the Longhorns.

He was also one of Ewers’ top targets in the team’s first matchup against Georgia. In that game, Helm caught six passes for 62 yards, finishing second in both categories for Texas. Expect a similar effort this time against the Bulldogs as he surpasses this player prop bet.

Best Bet: Georgia (+3)

With both teams considered locks for the first-ever 12-team playoff picture, only Georgia should be worried about dropping out of the ranks if the Bulldogs were to be blown out by Texas. The SEC power uncharacteristically lost two games this season, dropping road matchups against Alabama and Ole Miss.

Despite their previous loss to Georgia, oddsmakers have made Texas a favorite for the SEC Championship game. I’m not buying it. In front of a sold-out stadium with plenty of red in the standings, expect the Bulldogs to earn their second victory over Texas on Saturday.
