Commanders at Bears: 3 Player Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football

Commanders at Bears 3 Player Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football

After a few weeks of relatively exciting Thursday night games, the NFL has hit a rough patch in the weekly schedule. The Dolphins and Bengals in Week 4 proved to be less eventful than expected on the scoreboard, and last week’s touchdown-free matchup between the Colts and Broncos is one fans would like to forget.

Enter the Washington Commanders traveling to Chicago to face the Bears. The total for this game is 38, with Washington being offered as a one-point road favorite.

These two teams are 26th and 28th in scoring this season, with Washington slightly ahead, and a short week of practice and rest does not bode well for their chances to break out of those slumps. As a result, we look to find some enticing player prop bets to add some intrigue to an otherwise forgettable Week 6 TNF matchup.

Last week’s prop bets went 1-2 with the injury to Nyheim Hines costing us any chance at his receiving total going over. Matt Ryan was completely under siege all night which led to an early interception.

Melvin Gordon III went under his rushing yards total last week, cashing our lone win. For this Week 6 clash that’s expected to be low scoring, we look to find some excitement and value in this week’s group of TNF player prop bets.

JD McKissic: Anytime TD Scorer

Best Available Odds: +650 at FanDuel

McKissic has become integral to Carson Wentz’s version of the Washington offense as both a check-down safety net between the 20s and a red zone target with reliable hands. Wentz has targeted McKissic 27 times in the last four weeks, including his infamous interception at the goal line last week against the Titans.

Brian Robinson Jr. entering the lineup at this point in the season is some cause for concern with McKissic’s workload. Nevertheless, it’s more likely that he takes touches away from Antonio Gibson over the course of the season due to their similar skill sets.

David Montgomery UNDER 62.5 Rushing Yards

Best Available Odds: -115 at DraftKings

Washington’s defensive front is their strength, and they know the ground game is Chicago’s preferred method of moving the ball. The expectation for the Commanders is a lot of eight-man sets within the box to force Justin Fields to beat them through the air.

Montgomery is also in a battle for touches with Khalil Herbert that doesn’t lend itself to the number of carries needed for him to go over this total. We see Montgomery topping out at around 50 yards so we’ll gladly play the Under here.

Terry McLaurin UNDER 3.5 Receptions

Best Available Odds: +140 at DraftKings

After signing his first big contract this offseason, McLaurin has not turned out to be the focal point of the Washington passing game like he was expected to be. Wentz has favored Curtis Samuel to move the offense down the field, and McLaurin has 13 fewer targets through five games than Samuel.

Rookie Jahan Dotson leads the team with four receiving touchdowns and has been the primary red-zone target for Wentz each week. It’s worth noting that Dotson has been ruled out for tonight’s game.

Despite that, McLaurin’s only touchdown came on a long throw against the Jaguars in Week 1, and he already has two games with just two catches in 2022. This may change with Dotson’s absence, but we’ll pay to see it.
