Chiefs vs Eagles: Our DFS Lineup for FanDuel Big Game Bowl Contest

MVP: DeVonta Smith ($11,500)

The MVP selection is often the difference between a good lineup and a great lineup in single-game contests. Smith has been one of the best receivers in the NFL statistically since December, save for a dud again the 49ers in the NFC Championship game.

That can be attributed to an early lead and overall dominant performance from the Eagles’ defense and running game in a rout of San Francisco.

Aside from that day, Smith saw 8+ targets in every game for two straight months, and we like his matchup against this Chiefs secondary. He is our MVP play for Sunday.

Jalen Hurts ($17,000)

For Smith and others in the Eagles’ passing game to thrive, Hurts is the common thread. The Chiefs have a top-tier run defense and haven’t allowed a team to throw for more than 240 yards since an early December loss to Cincinnati.

Hurts will benefit from an extra week of rest, his second in a month. We are looking for him to escape the pocket multiple times against Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and company to provide a solid fantasy foundation on the ground.

We expect Hurts to score with both his arm and his legs en route to a nice day for the Philadelphia quarterback.

Isiah Pacheco ($10,500)

Pacheco’s involvement in the Chief’s passing game revealed another wrinkle in their playbook that Cincinnati was not prepared for in the AFC title game. His five catches and 59 yards receiving were both third on the team for the game and marked his best performance as a pass-catcher in his young NFL career.

Don’t forget that Pacheco is also the bell cow for this offense when they are humming in the run game. Philadelphia was first in pass defense this season but 16th in rushing and 24th in rush yards per attempt allowed.

Pacheco’s versatile skillset and development into a complete back have given him the tools to beat this Eagles’ defense in more ways than one. We could use that in our lineup.

AJ Brown ($12,500)

The player that transformed the Philadelphia offense this season was Brown. Expectations were high when the Eagles traded for him at the NFL Draft, and he exceeded almost anything that Philly fans could have predicted.

His DFS line against San Francisco, like Smith’s, was disappointing, but there was no need for the Eagles to throw the ball in their blowout win. We don’t see a way Philadelphia wins this game unless they can effectively move the ball through the air, given where Kansas City has been weaker defensively.

We can’t help but think of Terrell Owens’ first year in Philly when he carved up the Patriots on a broken leg during a loss in Super Bowl XXXIX. Brown will shine when the lights are brightest against KC on Sunday evening too.

Harrison Butker ($8,500)

This lineup wouldn’t be complete without a great kicker. Butker has been lethal in the postseason during his career, connecting on 87% of his field goal attempts, including 16 of 18 in Kansas City’s last three years of playoff action.

He booted five field goals over two games against Jacksonville and Cincinnati in January and is a perfect 4-of-4 in two previous Super Bowl appearances.

We feel good about rounding out this lineup with Butker and expect him to hit double-digit points in Super Bowl LVII.
