Minnesota already has the No. 1 seed locked up, but that doesn’t mean the top-seeded Lynx are taking their foot off the gas against a Fever team playing its best basketball of the season.

Quick take:

  • Pick: Indiana Fever +1.5
  • Why: Indiana has won eight of its last 10 and gets scoring from Kelsey Mitchell in bunches
  • The number to watch: Mitchell has scored 20-plus points in 25 straight games, an all-time WNBA record

The Lynx roll into Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 32-10, comfortably atop the Western Conference and riding an active winning stretch that includes a 101-89 dismantling of Connecticut on Sunday. Napheesa Collier scored 23 in that one, and rookie sensation Olivia Miles chipped in 21 while pushing her season scoring total past Caitlin Clark’s old rookie record.

Indiana, at 27-15, isn’t just playing out the string. The Fever have won eight of their last 10 games, including a 103-85 win over Toronto on Friday in which Mitchell dropped 33 points to set the WNBA’s single-season scoring record, and Clark matched a season high with 14 assists.

A Rematch With Seeding Still on the Table

Minnesota clinched the West’s top seed with its win over the Sun, but there’s still meaning behind this one — a win Tuesday cements the Lynx’s tiebreaker edge over Golden State for home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. Indiana, currently sitting in the East’s playoff picture, is playing for postseason positioning and momentum heading into October.

Books have this shockingly even for a game between a 32-win team and a 27-win team. Minnesota opened as a 1.5-point favorite, but the number has bounced between pick’em and Fever -1.5 depending on the book, with the total sitting right around 187.5-189. Line shoppers checking live sports betting odds before tip-off will notice this one moving more than a typical late-season game with playoff seeding on the line for both sides.

Recent Form

Both teams enter red-hot, but the shape of that form looks different — Minnesota’s is built on depth and defense, Indiana’s on two guards who can’t be left alone for a possession.

Mitchell and Clark Against a Lynx Defense That Doesn’t Blink

The season series so far tells the story. Minnesota beat Indiana 108-100 back on Aug. 2, even with Mitchell erupting for 37 points that day — Miles answered with 28 of her own, and Courtney Williams added 27 off the bench. That’s the blueprint for the Lynx: absorb whatever an opposing star throws at them and simply outscore it with balance.

Clark, meanwhile, is finally playing like the version of herself the league expected two years ago. She’s dealt with a nagging back issue most of the season — she’s been probable for it in 32 separate games — but she hasn’t missed a game since July 9, and she’s been terrifying since. Over her last five games, Clark is averaging 29.0 points, 9.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals. She’s listed as probable again for Tuesday, which by now is essentially a formality.

Mitchell has scored at least 20 points in 25 consecutive games — a WNBA record — and is averaging 28.1 points over her last 10.

That’s the number that makes this a live dog. When Mitchell gets going the way she has all September, Indiana doesn’t need to slow Minnesota down — it just needs to keep pace. Aliyah Boston rounds out a Fever attack that ranks first in the league in field-goal percentage, and this group has genuinely figured something out over the last month.

Still, Minnesota counters with the reigning runner-up for MVP in Collier, who’s shooting 50.5% from the floor and 42.9% from three this season, plus Miles quietly authoring one of the best rookie campaigns the league has ever seen. The Lynx also own this matchup on paper — they’ve won three of four meetings between these two clubs dating back to last season, including the lone meeting in 2026.

Depth is really where this separates. Minnesota got 27 points off the bench from Courtney Williams in the first meeting between these two, and that kind of secondary scoring is a luxury Indiana simply doesn’t have. The Fever lean heavily on their top two guards, and while that’s produced historic individual numbers, it also means foul trouble or a cold shooting night from either Clark or Mitchell can tip the game hard in Minnesota’s favor.

Health is the other variable worth watching closely. Damiris Dantas remains out for Indiana with a left knee issue, thinning an already shallow frontcourt rotation against a Lynx team that will try to win the paint. Clark’s back designation has become background noise at this point — she hasn’t missed real time since early July — but it’s still something to track pregame given how often it’s shown up on the injury report this season.

Prediction and Best Bet

Minnesota is the better team, deeper, and playing for a real stake in seeding. But this line is priced for a virtual coin flip for a reason — Indiana’s two guards are both hitting historic scoring marks in the same month, and the Fever have shown they can hang with the Lynx even when Mitchell has to do it almost single-handedly.

The pick:

  1. Prediction: Minnesota Lynx 96, Indiana Fever 93
  2. Best Bet: Indiana Fever +1.5

Take the points. In a game this close on paper, getting Clark and Mitchell at a number instead of laying it feels like the smarter side.
