BMW Championship Predictions: 3 Best Bets for Thursday, August 14
Some of the top golfers in the world will be heading to Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, to take part in the BMW Championships this weekend.
Last year’s winner, Keegan Bradley, is returning to defend his title. He’ll face stiff competition as the top five golfers in the world – including top-ranked player Scottie Scheffler – are among the participants in this year’s field.

Scottie Scheffler Leader After 1st Round (+750)
The BMW Championship’s $20 million purse is attracting plenty of big names this weekend, including Scottie Scheffler. The world’s top golfer has four wins this year, including victories in two of the four majors.
One reason for his success is his hot starts. He’s recorded a score of 70 or less in 12 of the past 13 tournaments he’s entered. Expect him to card another sub-70 score on Thursday, taking an early lead in this year’s tournament.
Patrick Cantlay Top 5 Finish (+340)
Patrick Cantlay is a sleeper in this year’s tournament. He’s currently ranked 22nd in the world, but his most recent outings have been boom or bust. He’s missed the cut in three of the past six outings, but he’s placed in the top 12 in two of those events.
Cantlay’s history with this event should warrant strong consideration, however. He won the BMW Championships in back-to-back years, including the 2021 tournament at Caves Valley. Expect him to record a top-five finish this weekend, boosting the golfer back up the world rankings.
Keegan Bradley To Finish Top 20 (-105)
Keegan Bradley’s hot start to the year has waned this summer. After finishing among the top 15 in five of the seven tournaments he played, the golfer has struggled since winning the Traveler’s Championship in June. His best finish was a tie for 30th at The Open, and he’s missed one cut during the past four events.
The BMW Championships should offer a better outcome for the American golfer. After finishing no better than 58th in the BMW Championship tournament in his career, Bradley turned the corner in 2023. He finished that tournament tied for 29th before pulling out the victory last year.
The only reason bettors shouldn’t predict him to finish among the top 10 players this weekend is his past with Caves Valley. His last professional outing there was in 2021, and he finished tied for 60th at that year’s event. Take him to overcome those past demons and squeak into the top 20 for this year’s tournament.
