5 Player Prop Picks for Monday Night Football: Texans vs. Cowboys
Monday Night Football has a big matchup between the Houston Texans (6-4) and the Dallas Cowboys (3-6). Both teams are desperate to end their crazy losing streaks, and on top of that, this game has some really exciting betting opportunities. With that, we’ve put together five of the best player prop picks for this primetime showdown and we’re mixing in some smart plus-money plays for added value.
C.J. Stroud Over 238.5 Passing Yards
- Player Prop Odds: -115
C.J. Stroud has been a bright spot for Houston’s offense all season. The rookie QB is averaging 237.1 passing yards per game and has blown through 238.5 yards in 6 of his 10 games this season.
Dallas ranks 26th in the league in passing yards allowed, giving up a whopping 362.9 yards per game. The Cowboys’ defense has struggled to limit opposing quarterbacks, and with Stroud’s ability to stretch the field with his arm, this prop feels like a winner.
We’re expecting Stroud to take advantage of a secondary that just allowed Jalen Hurts to throw for 320 yards in Week 10.
Joe Mixon Over 86.5 Rushing Yards
- Player Prop Odds: -115
Joe Mixon is set for a big game against one of the league’s worst run defenses and we’re sure he’s going to take advantage of the situation.
Dallas ranks 31st in rushing yards allowed per game, giving up a hefty 152.1 yards on the ground. Mixon has rushed for over 86.5 yards in 5 games this season, including 2 of his last 3 and those teams weren’t even this bad defending the ground.
With his combination of vision and power, Mixon will unquestionably dominate a Dallas front 7 that has been ran through on a consistent basis.
We’re looking for Houston’s run-heavy game plan to revolve around Mixon to control the clock and keep pressure off Stroud. We don’t see any other universe where Mixon doesn’t hit 87 yards this game.
CeeDee Lamb Over 6.5 Receptions
- Player Prop Odds: +120
CeeDee Lamb has been a target magnet all season long, and at plus money, this prop is loaded with value.
Lamb is averaging around 7.3 receptions per game over his last 3 outings and has consistently been Cooper Rush’s go-to weapon.
The Texans’ defense is solid, of course, but they’ve struggled to contain some of the best wide receivers — a group that Lamb falls into.
Lamb’s hot route running and ability to find open spots in the secondary will easily result in a high-volume performance. If Dallas falls behind early, we think they will expect Lamb’s target share to spike as the Cowboys lean on their passing game to stay competitive in this game.
C.J. Stroud Over 0.5 Interceptions
- Player Prop Odds: +100
Stroud has been nothing less than incredible this season, however, even the best quarterbacks can make mistakes under pressure and Stroud isn’t immune.
While Stroud has thrown only 5 interceptions all year, Dallas brings a booming pass rush led by Micah Parsons. The Cowboys’ defense is tied for 4th in the league in interceptions with 12, and we think they’ll look to capitalize on any forced throws from Stroud.
Given Dallas’ struggles to stop the pass overall, this prop offers some decent value at even money as the Cowboys are likely to force Stroud into a few risky situations and make him throw when he’s not wanting to.
Micah Parsons Over 0.25 Sacks
- Player Prop Odds: -130
Micah Parsons has been a nightmare for opposing QBs and notched 2 sacks last week against the Eagles. If that doesn’t tell you about his skill, then what will?
The Texans’ offensive line has allowed an insane 35 sacks this season, ranking 3rd-worst in the league. To make matters worse for the Texans, Parsons thrives in games like this, where he can use his speed and power to disrupt the backfield. He’s going to look to disrupt Stroud in the pocket and get him moving.
Stroud’s pocket presence has been solid, sure, but with Dallas desperate to turn their season around, Parsons is primed to make an impact in this game.
A single sack is all that’s needed, and Parsons is more than capable of delivering. He might even get another sack to top this off.
Quick Bonus Prop Bet
Usually, we only toss out 5 big prop bets, but this is one we couldn’t pass up.
If you’re looking for a long-shot play, Nico Collins Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+125) is worth a look. It feels like a solid bet and brings some good value with it.
Collins leads the Texans in receiving touchdowns and faces a Dallas defense that has been burned by top receivers in recent weeks.
