4 PrizePicks NFL Props for Week 1
FINALLY. The NFL Season is here, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions facing off in the regular season opener. For those of you who hate betting on baseball, this is a joyous time of year.
Football fans can now see lines on the players and teams they have been monitoring throughout the offseason, hoping to have a leg-up on the books.
For the upcoming slate, we’re going to dive into our four favorite player props, all found on PrizePicks. Stay tuned, we’ll also include a few honorable mentions at the end as well, just a little treat to celebrate the new season!
Michael Thomas OVER 3.5 Receptions
We are pretty confident this will be the lowest Thomas’ line will be all season. He is a seasoned vet, and while he’s missed a lot of games over the last few years, he’s still a dominant WR when on the field.
The New Orleans Saints have called upon Derek Carr to help bring them back to the playoffs. In their first game against the Tennessee Titans, Thomas will likely be a safety blanket for Carr as he gets acclimated to a new system.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Thomas had six or seven receptions in this game, smashing the over with ease.
Lamar Jackson OVER 216.5 Passing Yards
Yeah… We’re as confused as you are as to why this line is so low. Every report coming out of the Baltimore Ravens camp is that Jackson is going to be throwing a lot this year, especially knowing Todd Monken is his new OC.
We fully expected this line to be closer to 250 yards, especially given all of his new receiving help. Jackson may have only hit this number in four games last year, but this is a completely new team.
Look for Jackson to hit this number, maybe by the end of the third quarter.
Justin Fields OVER .5 Interceptions
We wanted to start by saying we like Justin Fields this year. In fact, he’s a big candidate to bounce back this season, as the Chicago Bears have continued to build the offense around him.
However, he is still a young quarterback facing off against an opportunistic Green Bay Packers defense. Fields is expected to attempt more passes this year than he did last year, giving him plenty of opportunities to throw picks.
He threw 11 interceptions last season, three in his two appearances against the Packers. While this prop might seem like a hit-or-miss play, we’re pretty confident that Fields will have at least one throw that lands in the hands of the Packers.
Kyle Pitts OVER 37.5 Receiving Yards
This might just be the Kyle Pitts optimist in us, but we LOVE his receiving yardage prop, especially since it’s under 40 yards. Last year, Pitts only had three games with more than 40 yards.
While this might cause you to turn your nose up, take a look at what the Atlanta Falcons have done in the past few years. They’ve drafted Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson in the first round of the NFL Draft.
They want this offense to be high-flying, and this might FINALLY be the season they utilize Pitts to his full potential. We’re certainly not going to root against the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history. Take his over in this spot, if for nothing else than to hope to watch this freak cook.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
● Christian McCaffrey OVER 33.5 Receiving Yards
● Justin Herbert UNDER 293.5 Passing Yards
● Jordan Love OVER 212.5 Passing Yards
● George Pickens OVER 3 Receptions
● Jamaal Williams UNDER 50.5 Rushing Yards
