Eleven NHL games are on the board Tuesday night, and for newer bettors the shots on goal market is one of the friendliest places to start. You do not need a player to score or even get a point. You just need him to put pucks on net, and the best shooters do that almost every night regardless of what the scoreboard says.

We found three players who combine a heavy shot workload with a matchup that should give them room to fire away. Each one is priced to go over 1.5 shots on goal, and the reasoning behind each pick is laid out below so you can see why the number looks beatable.

Tim Stutzle Over 1.5 Shots on Goal at Vegas

Stutzle (Ottawa Senators, center, No. 18) is the engine of the Ottawa offense, with 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points through 12 games. He has taken 24 shots in that span, about two a game, and has reached at least two shots in 7 of those 12 outings. Ice time helps too. He averages nearly 22 minutes a night, including more than four on the power play, so he gets plenty of chances to shoot.

The road trip to Vegas is a good sign rather than a worry. In his last five away games, Stutzle has averaged 3.4 shots, and he has cleared 1.5 in 14 of his last 19 road games. Ottawa also comes in off a 7-4 win over the Rangers, and Stutzle has scored in each of his last three games. Puck drop is 10:00 PM ET, and DraftKings has this at -150. Our model gives it roughly a 68% chance to hit.

Luke Evangelista Over 1.5 Shots on Goal at Dallas

Evangelista (New Jersey Devils, right wing, No. 77) is a quiet volume shooter. He has averaged 2.7 shots on goal over his last 10 games and has gone over 1.5 in 9 of those 10. His last three outings brought 6, 2 and 4 shots, and he is riding a three-game point streak. He also works on the first power-play unit alongside Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt and Luke Hughes, which keeps shots coming even when the game is tight.

New Jersey has won five of its last six, and a team that controls play tends to feed its shooters. Dallas is a tough test on paper because Jake Oettinger has been excellent, posting a 1.43 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. That is actually a reason this pick works. A hot goalie does not stop a shot from being counted, and this prop only needs two pucks on net, not two goals. The Stars also allow about 22 shots a game, so shot totals are not suppressed to an extreme degree. The price is -160 at DraftKings for the 8:00 PM ET start, and our model puts the chance near 68%.

Roman Kantserov Over 1.5 Shots on Goal vs. Los Angeles

Kantserov (Chicago Blackhawks, right wing, No. 80) is the least famous name on this card, but the usage backs him up. He plays about 18:50 a night, has four goals this season, and has fired off 18 shots in 11 games. He has put at least four shots on net in a game twice already, including a four-shot night against Pittsburgh on Oct. 13.

The matchup is the real driver. Los Angeles is allowing about 3.5 goals a game, and the Kings’ goaltending has been shaky, with Darcy Kuemper sitting at a 3.55 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage. Chicago is at home at the United Center, which gives the Blackhawks the last line change to get Kantserov out against weaker defensive pairings. At -170 at DraftKings, the sportsbook is signaling the same confidence we have, and our model puts this one near 77%, the highest of the three.

Lock These In

All three bets rest on the same simple idea: heavy shot volume plus a matchup that does not take away the chance to shoot. Prices move through the day, so shop around before you place anything. Shots on goal props are not magic, but they reward patience and a good read on usage. Stick to players who shoot a lot, avoid overthinking the opposing goalie, and bet responsibly.
