3 College Football Player Props for Wednesday, December 18: Ott Takes on UNLV
Hello, college football fans! Welcome to yet another game with Bowl Game action, giving us all something to look forward to on an otherwise uninspiring Wednesday of sports programming.
If you stayed up to watch the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl last night, you’d know that it was an instant thriller, a back-and-forth matchup between Memphis and West Virginia that went down to the wire. Memphis pulled off a fantastic victory, but WVU played their hearts out.
There are two games on the slate tonight, the Boca Raton Bowl between Western Kentucky and James Madison, and the Art of Sport LA Bowl between Cal and UNLV. This gives us two games worth of Underdog props to bet on, and we’re excited to share our best picks with you ahead of this matchup.
We went 3 for 3 last night, so let’s try and put another sweep together!
Caden Veltkamp UNDER 235.5 Passing Yards
We’re not sure why Caden Veltkamp’s passing yardage line is so high, but we’re certainly okay with it. Veltkamp has put together some massive performances this year, including a 398-yard performance against lowly MTSU, but he’s struggled against good opponents.
Look no further than his 141-yard outing against Jacksonville State in the Conference USA Championship last week. He hasn’t shown us that he can perform well when the lights are shining the brights, and considering JMU had one of the best passing defenses in the league during the regular season, look for Veltkamp to struggle, going under his projection of 235.5 passing yards.
Jaydn Ott UNDER 52.5 Rushing Yards
This is another prop that seems entirely too high. Jaydn Ott only achieved 53+ rushing yards in two games this season, giving us little confidence that he will have a massive game tonight.
UNLV has one of the best-rushing defenses in the country, allowing just over 110 yards per game on the ground. We expect Cal to throw the ball a lot in this game, leaving little room for Ott to have a big game in the rushing category.
Hajj-Malik Williams OVER 175.5 Passing Yards
Some people might be scared to take the over on Hajj-Malik Williams’ passing yardage total, as he struggled against Boise State in the Mountain West Championship game.
However, he played well against Boise State earlier in the year, and some of his other performances give us confidence that he’s in line for another big game.
Considering this is likely Williams’ last game in a UNLV uniform, look for him to hit the over on his passing total, hopefully ending his collegiate career with a big game.
