Let’s kick the new month off with some MACtion! Good luck with all of your bets today!

Best Bet: Bowling Green -5.5 (FanDuel)

Ball State picked up just their 2nd win of the season 2 weeks ago when they defeated Central Michigan 24-17. Marquez Cooper, Junior running back, went off for 162 yards on the ground and a touchdown. This was his 2nd best game behind his 177-yard game against Indiana State, which was the Cardinals’ 1st win of the season.

Defensively, they held CMU to just 260 total yards and 3 of 13 on 3rd down. They will need to dominate the line of scrimmage and run the ball effectively to have a chance at a road win here.

The Falcons moved back to .500 last game when they defeated Akron 41-14 for what has been their largest margin of victory on the season. Terion Stewart scored 3 times on 19 carries and scampered for 131 yards. He led the team as they finished with a total of 214 rushing yards.

They held Akron to just 45 yards on the ground and dominated the time of possession. On the season, they are allowing just 25ppg which ranks them in the middle of the pack in the nation.

Bowling Green has had the more consistent rushing game this season. In a game where both teams will be trying to establish the run, we are going to back the better defensive and rushing team which is the Falcons. Stewart will look to add to his 100-yard rushing games and the Falcons should win this by more than a touchdown.

Key Trends:

  • Ball St is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games played on a Wednesday when playing on the road.
  • Ball St is 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games.
  • BG is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games.
  • BG is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against Ball State.

Best Bet: Kent State @ Akron UNDER 38.5 (DraftKings)

The Golden Flashes picked up their 7th loss of the season and 5th straight when they faced off with Buffalo the other week. After taking a 6-0 lead, they were outscored 24-0 the rest of the way. Cole Snyder of Buffalo had a decent game throwing for almost 200 yards and a touchdown.

Buffalo finished with over 330 yards and went 7-16 on 3rd down attempts. For the Golden Flashes, they were held under 80 passing yards and 90 rushing yards. They will need to open things up a bit more to defeat this Akron team.

The Zips are also just 1-7 on the season and have lost 6 straight games. Bowling Green handed them their most recent loss on the road. 3 different quarterbacks have seen time under center with Jeff Undercuffler seeing the most time recently.

Even in their win over Morgan State, he tossed 3 interceptions and was sacked 3 times. They were able to sneak out the 24-21 win over Morgan State but had their QB sacked 6 times and turned the ball over 3 times.

Neither of these teams has an offense that strikes any fear into their opponents and both have had trouble scoring more than 15ppg on the year. With defenses that won’t need to do much to keep the points off the scoreboard, we feel comfortable on the shorter side of total points.

Key Trends:

  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Akron’s last 13 games against Kent State.
  • UNDER in 5 of Akron’s last 7 games played on a Wednesday.
  • UNDER in 6 of Kent State’s last 6 games when playing on the road against Akron.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Kent State’s last 11 games against an opponent in the East Division.
