Is FanDuel the Best US Sportsbook

FanDuel SportsBook

As FanDuel and DraftKings continue to battle for supremacy in the US, all early indications give FanDuel a slight edge. FanDuel has been New Jersey’s top sportsbook by handle and revenue since launching.

In addition to being bettors choice when it comes down to FanDuel vs DraftKings, they typically have more ways to bet, including more prop bet offers, and some of the lowest juice in the industry.

FanDuel also offers a polished app that makes live betting as seamless as any other sportsbook currently operating in the US.

The one area that FanDuel continues to trail DraftKings is with their promotional offers. They are typically way less aggressive with new player bonus offers, and at the moment their $500 free bet offer clearly trails DraftKings’ $1,000 bonus.

DraftKings SportsBook

As we mentioned in our FanDuel review, DraftKings dominates when it comes to player promo offers. Not only with huge deposit bonus offers, but with promotional contests that you just will not find elsewhere. This includes the 2020 Sports Betting Spring Championship, with a guaranteed $1,500,000 in prizes.

That being said, the DraftKings Sportsbook is more than just flashy promotions. The app itself is one of the highest-rated apps on the app store with over a 4.8 rating on more than 60,000 reviews!

While FanDuel’s brick-and-mortar locations have dominated to date here in the US, DraftKings has had a significantly higher handle to date on their app and website. You certainly can make the argument that the DraftKings app makes them the best book for mobile betting.

That being said, we still give the FanDuel platform a slight edge as of February 2020.

When Will FanDuel and DraftKings Arrive in My State?

While they are adding new states on a nearly daily basis, for most of our readers FanDuel and DraftKings are not yet betting options in their state. This is not by choice, yet comes down to whether or not your state has passed a bill legalizing sports betting.

So when will this happen in your state? Use the graph below to determine when you can expect to have sports betting available where you live. Graph courtesy of our friends at Action Network.

As you can see from the graph above, most of the US will have legal sports betting by the end of 2021. The current projections have 41 states with legal sports betting by 2021, with 27 states expected to have legalized sports betting by the end of 2020.

Why the sudden shift in the United States opinion of sports betting?

The first and most obvious reason these states are pushing for legalized sports betting is money. If we look at Illinois and their SB690 bill, the state expects to see $12 billion in revenue in just six years after approving this bill.

The one thing the past few years has shown us is that new names to the sports betting industry are nothing but a positive. Beyond just the best sportsbooks listed on this page, companies like PointsBet are driving innovation in our industry.
